JU students stage sit-in

The one-hour sit-in began at 11:30 am.

The students held a rally in front of the administrative building during the sit in. The students at the rally blamed the university authorities for the ongoing deadlock in academic and administrative activities.

"We are facing 18 months session jam following the movement of Jahangirnagar University Teachers' Association (JUTA) since September 2002 to press their demand for election to VC panel.

The teachers are only pursuing their own interests, paralysing the academic lives of the students, said the students at the rally.

The students at a press conference in front of the building sought the government interference to solve the problem.

They will form human chain in front of the administrative building at 11:00 am tomorrow.

The students began agitation as the indefinite strike called by JUTA entered 23rd day yesterday.
