Jute worth Tk 35 lakh gutted in Chittagong

Mill sources said the fire originated from electric short circuit at about 11.30pm at the one-storey godown and engulfed the entire building quickly.

Four fire fighting units from Agrabad and Dock Fire Stations rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze at around 3.00am, sources said.

Earlier on October 9, a huge quantity of coil processing powder was gutted in another devastating fire at a godown of Reckitt Benckiser Bangladesh Limited at Nasirabad Industrial Area damaging goods worth around Tk 40 lakh.
