Concern over killing of elephant
In a statement, the foundation said the killing of a critically endangered species is a serious crime and goes contrary to the policy of the government for wildlife conservation.
Terming the critically endangered wild elephant as a great asset of the country, the statement said the forest department should facilitate visit to wildlife sanctuaries in the hill districts by wildlife photographers and researchers so that the status of the elephant population could be easily monitored.
Such steps will also promote public awareness about the status of the endangered animals leading to their conservation, the statement added.
The foundation urged the government and the NGOs to take all possible steps for wildlife conservation.
