World Standards Day today

The 34th World Standards Day will be observed in the country as elsewhere in the world today with a vow to uphold standards and quality of products aiming at improving living standards of people.

The theme of the day is 'Global Standards for the Global Information Society.'

Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution (BSTI) has drawn up a special programme to mark the day.

A discussion will be held at Hotel Purbani at 3.30pm. Leading scientists, technologists, experts and businessmen will take part in the discussion.

President Iajuddin Ahmed and Prime Minister Khaleda Zia issued separate messages on the occasion urging all concerned to maintain quality of products.

The BSTI will also organise programmes in its Chittagong, Khulna, Rajshahi, Barisal and Sylhet regional offices.
