Ministries asked not to depend on finance ministry's fund

They have been advised to mobilise funds from respective internal sources to foot the bill for additional expenses involved in the V-Day celebrations, official sources said.

The advice from the Ministry on Liberation War Affairs was made as the "past experiences showed that the allocation was always insufficient to meet the expenditures on the celebrations".

"Requests from concerned ministries and their offices and organisations are made to allocate extra money in this respect," officials said, quoting a circular of the ministry.

But, in issuing the advice for mobilising fund internally, it said the Finance Division "always expresses its unwillingness to release additional money beyond the allocated amount".

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs this year got the assignment of official celebration of the V-Day. Earlier the Home Ministry was in charge of the day's functions.
