2 killed, 7 hurt as bus plunges into river

Twenty others were missing following the accident.

Police said a passenger bus 'Ashik Paribahan' was going to Takerhat from Gopalganj. When it reached Ulpur, a village in Sadar upazila, its brakes failed and the bus plunged into a river.

Six passengers managed to come out of the bus, but the fate of 20 others is still not known.

The dead are Milon,25, helper of the bus and Hasina Begum ,30.

Hurmat Ali, a survivor, told this correspondent that the accident occurred when the driver lost control over the vehicle moving at top speed.

The deputy commissioner and the superintendent of police of Gopalganj visited the spot. Police seized the bus.
