SUST students form human chain
Students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Wednesday formed a human chain in the city's court point area to press home their 4-point demand including resumption of their classes.
The other demands include opening of the newly-built dormitory through allotment of seats to meritorious students, appointment of new teachers and procurement of more buses.
The students also handed over a memorandum to the deputy commissioner to send it to the Chancellor of the University seeking his intervention to resolve their crisis.
They had been agitating as the new academic session is yet to begin even months after their admission.
The varsity is in a deep crisis as the teachers are refusing to take classes demanding fresh appointment of teachers while the authorities are unable to do it due to government embargo on new appointments.
The problem has already created a session jam of 26 months.
