Maintain peace during Durga Puja: Khoka
Mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka yesterday urged the elected representatives to give all possible assistance to law enforcing agencies to maintain peace in the city during the Durga Puja, the greatest religious festival of the Hindu community.
He made the request at a meeting with the leaders of Puja Celebrating Committee at Dhaka City Corporation auditorium.
Sadeque Hossain said all citizens are equal in the eye of law in Bangladesh.
The meeting discussed various measures to celebrate the Durga Puja peacefully at about 139 puja mandaps across the city.
City Police Commissioner Ashraful Huda, President of Dhaka City Puja Celebrating Committee Swapan Kumar Bhoumik, General Secretary of Bangladesh Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikya Parishad Nimchandra Bhoumik, Maharaj of Ram Krishna Mission and leaders of different puja mandap committees attended the meeting.
