A group of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) men ransacked a BNP leader's house at Monafer More of the city on Friday night.

A group of ten arriving on a microbus and two motor cycles stormed into former Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal vice president and Rajshahi University senate member Shahin Shawkat's house at 11.30pm.

They fired several shots at his house damaging doors, windows and furniture. The gang left the spot as locals gathered taking it for a dacoity bid.

Shahin's wife Dilruba Shawkat filed a case accusing ten BNP men. She mentioned names of Boni, Harun and Sun in the case.

The dispute arose earlier yesterday between Minu group and Kabir group when party men loyal to Minu group refused to comply with Kabir group's demand to form a committee for Ward 32 through voting.
