Judgement in Fahima rape, suicide case today

The Speedy Trial Tribunal-3 will deliver verdict in the sensational teenage girl Fahima rape and suicide case today.

Judge Jahangir Alam Mollah will deliver the verdict at about 12 pm in presence of accused Suman, Nasir and Halim who are now in jail custody.

Fahima, 13, committed suicide at her Tolarbagh residence in Mirpur on March 3, 2003 after she was raped by the accused.

Suman, one of the accused, called Fahima out of her residence on the day and took her to an under-construction building of Sardar Keramat at Tolarbagh where she was gangraped.

After returning home, she committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan.

Abdul Jabbar, father of the victim filed a case under Women and Children Repression and Prevention Act, a day after the suicide accusing Suman, Nasir and Halim with the Mirpur Police Station on March 4, 2002.

Police submitted the chargesheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court on March 16, 2002.

The tribunal recorded statements of 13 witnesses in the case since May, 14 last.
