Police yet to net Brahmanbaria cop killers

Brahmanbaria police are yet to arrest the operatives of the Jamal Molla gang who allegedly shot dead police havilder Mutahar Hussain Hawlader, 50, in a firefight in the district on Friday night.

The robbers opened fire when an 18-member police team led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Sadar Police Station Mia Kutubur Rahman Chowdhury hemmed in the residence of Jamal at Ghatura Purba Para.

A member of the gang, which was preparing for a raid in the neighbourhood, was also killed when police returned fire.

The body of Mutahar was buried at his Char Laksmipur village in Bhola district yesterday morning.

The unknown robber's body was kept at the morgue of the Sadar hospital.

Additional Deputy Inspector General Naeem Ahmed visited the scene of the shootout.

The Superintendent of Police of Brahmanbaria, Abul Kalam Azad, said police were trying to net the operatives of the gang.
