Robber beaten to death in city
An alleged robber was lynched and two others were severely injured by a mob yesterday when they attempted a raid in the city's Kafrul area, police said.
They said gangster Mohammad Ripon died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where Ridoy and Jahid were getting treatment.
Sensing the presence of the gang, residents of Din Mohammad Colony in Damal Court raised an alarm in the early hours of yesterday, triggering a mob chase.
The mob caught three of the band of about seven and gave a thorough beating.
Called in by locals, Kafrul police went to the scene and rushed the trio to the DMCH where Ripon died from his wounds.
