Literacy rate now 65pc, minister tells JS

Minister in-charge of Mass Literacy and Primary Education Dr Khondkar Mosharraf Hossain gave the data while replying to a question from Muhammad Giasuddin (Narayanganj-4) in the Jatiya Sangsad yesterday.

The minister said the government has introduced a programme involving Tk 682.99 crore to increase the literacy rate in the country.

Replying to another question from Delwer Hossain Sayedee, Mosharraf said Tk 49 crore has been allocated for 664 non-government organisations under the post literacy education project to develop human resources.
