Prime accused in Ctg triple murder case on remand

A former Union Parishad chairman was arrested in the sensational triple murder case on Tuesday and was placed on a 3-day remand yesterday.

Abul Kalam was the prime accused in the killing of three brothers at Charia Kazipara of Mirzapur under Hathazari Thana. He was arrested from a residence at Kapasgola of Chawkbazar on Tuesday afternoon.

Investigating Officer of the case Sub Inspector Md Shahjahan of the Hathazari Police Station produced Kalam before the Magistrate court with a 5-day remand prayer.

Armed criminals shot dead Abul Kashem, 50, Abul Bashar, 40, and Badsha Alam, 30, sons of Abdul Khaleque on the morning of May 26.

Rejoicing at his arrest, hundreds of local people brought out processions and distributed sweets.

During interrogation Kalam confessed his involvement in the killing, police sources said.
