Ex-convict tosses jailer into river

The criminals attacked Monirul Islam at the passenger launch Shagar-5 when the former Patuakhali district jailer was going to join his new posting in Sunamgonj.

When the criminals fled on a trawler, the launch crew rescued the jailer, who later filed a case against 15 persons, of whom six were arrested.

Monirul claimed that he had infuriated the criminals by not letting them take drugs inside the jail while he was the in charge of the Patuakhali prison.
