First meeting Of JS body on ministry on Wednesday

With the convening of the meeting on the religious affairs ministry, the first standing committee meeting begins 20 months after the formation of the eighth parliament.

Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker Delwar Hossain Saidee is the chairman of the committee.

Of the 39 ministerial standing committees, only five were formed in the seventh session of the parliament last month.

As the main opposition Awami League (AL) did not provide the list of its nominees, the slots for opposition lawmakers in these committees remained vacant.

The AL would provide the list of names once all parliamentary committees are formed, Deputy Leader of the Opposition Abdul Hamid said.
