The Bureau of Anti-corruption (BAC) has formed a four-member inquiry committee to dig out corruption in the Duty Drawback and Exemption Department, sources said.

The committee has already seized some important files from the department that revealed accounts of bribes being exchanged.

The committee members are anti-corruption officers Abdullah Al Jahid and Joinal Abedin Sibly and inspectors Rafiquzzaman and Farid Ahmed Patwary.

A separate inquiry committee of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) is also working on the bribe case.

On May 21, BAC seized a ledger from the department revealing the involvement of some customs officials and about 50 business houses in shady export and import deals. An anti-corruption case was filed a few days later.
