Alleged robber beaten to death in N'ganj
An alleged robber was beaten to death and another critically injured by villagers during a robbery at village Barasadipur under Sonargaon thana here in the early hours of Tuesday.
Police said a group of about 12 armed robbers entered the house of one Sohrab Mia of the village at about 2:00am and started looting valuables holding the residents of the house hostage at gunpoint.
But alarm raised by the residents drew villagers to the spot and they caught two of the alleged robbers while the rest managed to escape in an autorickshaw along with the looted cash and gold ornaments.
Both the robbers were severely beaten up by angry villagers, leaving one dead and the other critically injured. The deceased could not be identified.
The injured robber was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Four villagers also sustained injuries during a clash with the fleeing robbers.
