Police have failed to make any headway so far in tracking down the criminals who looted money from a bank at Rampura on Tuesday.

The robbery case was transferred to the Detective Branch (DB) of police but the investigator could not provide any detail.

"We have not as yet found anything worth mentioning," Inspector Enamul Haq told journalists.

At least five police teams are hunting for the criminals across the city, sources said.

According to another police source, they suspect that two local, listed criminals, Pauruti Jalal and Alauddin, may have been involved in the robbery.

Police believe they could make headway if either could be arrested.

Meanwhile, the three bank officials picked up by Khilgaon police were released after questioning. Several others, picked up from the spot and adjacent areas, were released as well, as their involvement could not be confirmed.

Armed robbers looted about Tk 6.5 lakh from a Pubali Bank branch near Rampura Bazaar Tuesday noon and stripped two customers of over Tk 1.6 lakh.
