Hearing of writ on judges' job non-confirmation resumes June 16

Six former judges had challenged non-confirmation of their service "despite recommendation of the Chief Justice".

A three-member larger bench headed by Justice Hamidul Huq passed the order yesterday when Barrister Azmalul Hossain, counsel for the petitioners, pleaded for expediting hearing on the rule issued by the bench on May 4.

The Chief Justice had constituted the larger bench, as the co-judge of each of three division benches, yet to be confirmed, felt embarrassed to hear the writ.
