Ten killed in road accidents
Ten people were killed and 24 others injured in separate road accidents across the country, including in the capital, on Sunday and yesterday.
Our staff correspondent reports, four people were killed in road accidents in the capital yesterday.
Mushfiqul Haque Emon, 24, Bangladeshi expatriate in Italy, was killed when a truck hit his motorbike on Badda Link Road around 1:00am.
He was on holidays at his Merajnagar residence in Kadamtoli of the country.
Meanwhile, a bus-owner standing beside a stationed bus in front of Gulistan Fulbaria City Super Market, died when a truck hit the bus from behind leading it to run him over early yesterday.
The dead is Jasimuddin, 32.
A man was killed when a Mohakhali-bound bus knocked him in front of Farmgate Super Market while he was waiting for a bus early yesterday.
The victim, Ismail Meer, 45, was a shop employee.
A 25-year-old motorcyclist was killed while his six-year-old nephew injured when a bus hit the motorbike in Baridhara yesterday afternoon.
Our Manikganj correspondent adds, a passenger was killed and 20 others were injured as their bus collided head-on with a truck on Dhaka-Aricha highway at Baniajuri in Ghior upazila of Manikganj around 11:00am yesterday.
The dead is Hamid Ali, 60, of Pabna district.
Both the drivers escaped leaving their vehicles which caused a two-hour traffic jam on the highway.
A Gopalganj correspondent adds, a rickshaw-van puller was killed when a bus hit the vehicle on Tungipara-Gopalganj road in Nilarmath area of Gopalganj on Sunday night.
Zakir Hossain, 30, of Tungipara upazila, died on the spot.
Meanwhile, a rickshaw-puller, Murshed Alam, 26, of Sadar upazila, died as a lorry hit him on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Bedgram area of Gopalganj on Sunday evening.
Our Magura correspondent adds, three family members were killed and three other people injured when a sand-laden truck rammed their rickshaw-van on Magura-Dhaka highway at Bhaina Mor in Magura town yesterday evening.
The deceased are Abu Mallik, 50, of Sadar upazila, his mother Shukuronnesa, 70, and his aunt Fatema Khatun, 45.
