14 shops gutted in fire
Fourteen shops were gutted in a fire in the Port Connecting Road area in Chittagong city yesterday.
Sources at Agrabad Fire Service and Civil Defence Station said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop in New Port Market in the area around 3:15am and soon spread to adjacent shops.
On information, four fire fighting units from Bandar and Agrabad Fire Stations doused the fire around 5:00am.
Fire service officials estimated the damages at Tk 10 lakh.
