11 Shibir men arrested
Police arrested 11 activists of Islami Chhattra Shibir after they clashed with Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Government BL College at Daulatpur in the city yesterday.
Witnesses said, the clash erupted at 11:00am when two processions of BCL and Shibir were crossing each other on the campus.
Earlier, the Shibir activists locked in an altercation with police near Daulatpur bus stand as police obstructed their procession towards the college.
Both the groups, equipped with iron roads, sticks and bludgeons chased and attacked each other, leaving one person injured.
Injured Masudur Rahman Masud, first year student at mathematics department and also Shibir activist was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Officer in-Charge (OC) of Daulatpur PS Akhter Hossain said, police arrested 11 Shibir activists from the spot.
Meanwhile leaders of both the student organisations at the college blamed each other for the attack.
