Golden jubilee celebrated
The golden jubilee celebration programme of Ispahani Public School and College here was held on the college premises at Comilla Cantonment yesterday.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid inaugurated the programme as the chief guest.
He also laid the foundation stone of the long cherished auditorium of the institution.
Besides the education minister, donor member Mirza Salman Ispahani, GOC, 33 Infantry Division, Major Gen Aziz Ahmed and principal of the institution Lt Col Khandoker Forhad Hossain, spoke at the programme.
The minister in his inaugural speech said that the students are the future leader of the country. “Today, there is no want of literate people but there is acute crisis of enlightened people,” he said.
“I hope you all will be able to realise the real purpose of education”, he told the students urging them to become the leaders against all malpractices, superstitions and corruptions.
Later at a cultural programme organised to mark the occasion, students of the institution as well as the guest artistes put up attractive songs and shows.
The Ispahani Public School & College, located in Comilla Cantonment, was set up on September 28, 1962.
