A teenage girl met tragic death as her 'boyfriend' allegedly pushed her down from the top of a hill at Madhabkunda tourist spot in Baralekha upazila under the district on Monday evening. The victim is Rumana Akter, 18, daughter of Abdul Hamid, a day labourer of Rangauti village in Baralekha upazila. Rumana came to Madhabkunda waterfall area with her 'boyfriend' Masuk Ahmed, 20, of Gaziteka village under the same upazila, and his friend Babor by a CNG-run three-wheeler on Monday afternoon, police said. Masuk took her on top of about a 200-feet-high hill nearby when Babar was standing in front of the waterfall. At one stage, Masuk pushed Rumana down from the hilltop, causing her fall and death on the spot. Police arrested Masuk Ahmed, his friend Babar and three-wheeler driver Shahin from the spot. Masuk claimed to police that Rumana accidentally slipped from the hill but police is suspecting that it is a planned murder. Rumana's mother Dilara Begum filed a murder case with Baralekha police station in this connection.
