Criminals damage idols
Hundreds of Hindus of Bagbati union in Sadar upazila yesterday staged demonstration protesting the damage of 16 idols in six temples. Police also arrested Jamaat activist Aminul Islam Babu, son of Saheb Ali of Chakmirakhor village in this connection. Sayed Sahid Alam, officer in-charge of Sadar police station, said a gang of criminals ransacked Durga and Gopal temples of Harina Bagbati, Kali temple of Harina Alokdiar, Kali temple of Bagbati, Harina Nandina and Radha Gobinda temples of Shachindra Nath Sarker on Saturday evening. Later, the Hindu devotees protested the incident. Additional police have been deployed in the area, the OC added.
