AL leader killed in Lalmonirhat
Police recovered the body of a local Awami League (AL) leader from a canal in Dangarhat Border area of Patgram upazila yesterday noon.
Nur Hossain, 45, son of late Nur Mohammad of Rosulganj village in the upazila, is convener of ward no 8 of AL Patgram municipality unit.
Murshidul Karim, officer in-charge of Patgram police station said criminals might have strangled Hossain and dumped the body in the canal.
One Azinur Rahman, Sohidar Rahman and Nishad Hossain said the AL leader had an Indian bycycle and machin parts business.
He might have been killed by his rivals or Indian Border Security Force (BSF), they added.
