Bhasani university students agitate for 12-pt demand
Ultimatum till Saturday
Students of Maolana Bhasani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) agitated on the campus yesterday to realise their 12-point demand.
Several hundred students of different departments demonstrated on the Shaheed Minar premises at noon and formed a human chain in front of the university administrative building.
The demands of the students include reduction of credit fee, withdrawal of extra admission fee for so-called development, appointment of senior teachers including professors in all departments, accommodation/residential facilities for all residential students, setting up complete laboratories at all departments, cut in backlog charges, early Wi Fi connection, construction of playground, auditorium and gymnasium, ensuring 24-hour medical and ambulance facilities for the students and setting up a sculpture of Maolana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani on the campus.
The agitating students later held a press conference at the canteen on the campus. There they issued an ultimatum to the authorities asking them to meet their demands by Saturday.
They also threatened to go for a tougher movement if the university authorities did not take necessary steps to fulfill their demands by the deadline.
Earlier, the students submitted a memorandum to the vice-chancellor of the university on Tuesday giving details of their demands.
