UP member murdered
A union parishad (UP) member was killed by criminals at East Someshpur village in Nalitabari upazila early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Nazmul Haque Dewan, 42, son of late Ashraf Hossain and member of Poragaon union parishad.
Local people said Nazmul along with some of his friends went to a jungle behind the information centre of Madhutila Eco Park and was drinking alchohol late at night.
At that time a gang swooped on him and at one stage strangled him.
