The deep depression in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a cyclonic storm -- Sitrang.

The low-lying areas of some unions, including Nijhum Dwip union of Hatiya Island of Noakhali, are likely to be inundated due to the intensity of rain and tide under the influence of a low-pressure in the Bay of Bengal.

The cyclone will hit 730 kilometre-long coastal areas in 19 districts of the country with three to five feet high tidal surges, State Minister for Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Enamur Rahman has said.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number 3 as the depression over the east-central Bay intensified into a deep depression this morning (October 23, 2022).
