Three kids drown

Three children drowned in Lalmonirhat and Kurigram on Wednesday.

A five-year-old boy drowned while playing beside a pond near his house at Singimari village in Lalmonirhat's Hatibandha upazila around 1:30pm.

The deceased, Mishkat Hossain, was son of Nurul Islam of the village.

Away in Kurigram, another boy Rokon Miah, 5, son of Haran Miah of Char Gorokmandal village in Phulbari upazila, drowned in a pond around 4:00pm the same afternoon.

Villagers spotted Rokon's body floating in a pond water and recovered it.

Meanwhile, three-year-old Nasrin Akhter, daughter of Nazir Hossain of Purbo Phulmati village in the upazila, drowned in a pond near her house the same afternoon.  

Locals said the minor girl slipped into the pond water while playing beside it and drowned.
