Medical technologist dies falling off building

A female medical technologist has died after falling off the corridor of the sixth floor of Sheikh Sayera Khatun Medical College Hospital building in Gopalganj yesterday.

The deceased, Sushmita Majumdar Iva, 25, was wife of Rajib Majumdar of Bagerhat's Chitalmari upazila.

Sushmita, who had been working voluntarily at the pathology department of the hospital, used to live at her paternal house in Janata Road area of Gopalganj town.

Quoting witness, Inspector (investigation) of Sadar Police Station Hazrat Ali said a workshop for the technologists of the PCR Lab was held at the sixth floor of the hospital's administrative building yesterday morning.

Six volunteer technologists, including Sushmita, took part at the workshop.

After the workshop, PCR Engineer of Biotech Service Mahibul Hasan was talking to the trainees at the corridor of the sixth floor.

As there was no railing on the corridor, Sushmita suddenly slipped and fell on the ground while taking turn on her left and died on the spot, police said.
