Cop, journo among 10 injured by robbers
At least 10 people, including a policeman and a journalist, were injured in attacks by robbers in Habiganj and Dinajpur districts yesterday.
Robbers looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth about Tk 10 lakh from a house after injuring five people in Phulbari upazila town of Dinajpur early yesterday, reports our correspondent.
The injured are house owner Morshed Ali, 42, his wife Samsun Nahar, 38, son Emon Hossain, 21, neighbours Raju Ahmed, 36, and Sazu Ahmed, 33, of Gouripara area in the town. They were admitted to the upazila health complex.
Family sources said a gang of 20 stormed into the house and took away Tk 8 lakh and gold ornaments after beating Morshed, his wife and son when they tried to resist them.
On information, neighbours rushed to the spot but they came under an attack by the robbers. Of them, Raju and Sazu sustained injuries during the incident.
A case was filed in this connection, said Mostaque Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Phulbari Police Station.
In Habiganj, a police official and a journalist among five people were injured as robbers beat them up in Adair area under Madhabpur upazila of the district the same day, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent.
The injured include Brahmanbaria traffic police Sergeant Md Bayzid and Peeyus Kanti Acharja, bureau chief (east) of ATN News.
