8 arrested with crude bombs, Yaba

Police in a drive detained eight members of a robbers' gang from Kharki area in Jashore town on Tuesday and seized 10 crude bombs, 60 pieces of Yaba tablets and sharp weapon from their possession.

The arrestees are Raja Hossain, 18, son of Mujibur of Kharki area in the town, Rajib Lashkar, 18, son of Ajmal Lashkar of Khulna, Swadhin, 18, son of Oliar Rahman of Madaripur, Monir Hossain, 26, son of Amir Hossain of Khulna, Shamim Hossain, 18, son of late Shahadat Hossain of Madaripur, Sabbir Lashkar, 16, son of Bayzid Lashkar, Billal Mollah, 18, son of Tafsir Molla, and Akash Gharami, 18, son of Delwar Gharami, of Khulna.

Officer in Charge (OC) of Jashore Kotwali Police Station Moniruzzaman said, acting on a tip-off, they raided the house of one Mujibur Rahman in Kalabagan area on Tuesday afternoon and arrested the eight.

The law enforcers also seized 10 crude bombs, 60 Yaba pills and a sharp weapon from them, the OC said.

The detainees, hailed from different districts, are involved in various crimes, including theft, robbery and mugging, under the shelter of Mujibur's son Chhoto Raja, he added.

Quoting locals, police said the arrestees are members of infamous Sagar-Ramadan group and accused in a number of cases, including for murder, filed with different police stations.
