BFUJ worried at job cuts in media houses

A faction of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) yesterday expressed deep concern over job cuts in various media houses, including The Independent and The Daily  Inqilab.

In a statement, the faction's President Altaf Mahmud and its Secretary General  Omar Faruk said journalists in the two media houses are being terminated indiscriminately without being shown any reason even though the owners avail themselves of all government facilities.

They urged the authorities concerned to stop such job cuts, pay salaries and other benefits regularly and give appointment letters to all journalists
