Gas supply to Bibiana area demanded
Around 5,000 people of 20 villages near the Bibiana Gas field in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj yesterday formed a human chain and held a rally at Kibria chattar on Dhaka-Sylhet highway demanding gas supply to the areas.
Morshed Ahmed, Aushkandi Bazar Committee president, chaired the rally while lawmaker Sheikh Sujat Mia, among others, was present at the hour-long event organised by Socheton Nagorik Samaj.
If the authorities do not take any step to supply gas to the nearby areas within two weeks, they will wage tougher movements, said speakers at the event.
