Our Correspondent, Pabna
At least five people were injured as students of Pabna University of Science and Technology and transport workers clashed in the district town yesterday. The injured include Sujon Islam, first year student of Information and Commutation Engineering and Kamran Hossain, second year student of Applied Physics. Locals said an altercation erupted between the students and the staffs of a Pabna-bound bus when the vehicle was passing by a procession of the students in Rajapur area at about 1:30pm. At one stage, the unruly transport workers picked up two students and took them to Pabna bus terminal. As the news spread, a chase and counter-chase took place between the both groups, leaving at least five from both sides injured. Earlier, the students of the university blocked Dhaka-Pabna highway in the area, demanding removal of vice chancellor Mozaffar Hossain. On July 17, the agitating students observed class boycott to press home their eight-point demand.
