Clash over khas land leaves one killed
One person was killed and 20 others were injured during a clash between two groups of villagers over capture of a khas land at Santosha village in Shahzadpur upazila of the district yesterday.
The deceased is Idris Ali Sheikh, 60, son of late Nefet Ali Sheikh of the village. Police recovered the body and sent it Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The injured are undergoing treatment at Bera and Shahzadpur health complexes.
Members of the rival families of Idris Ali and Alauddin picked up a quarrel over taking possession of the land at around 9:00am. When Idris Sheikh reached there, his rivals hit him with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot.
Soon after the incident, both sides equipped with lethal weapons locked in a fierce clash that left at least 20 people from both sides injured.
