Housewife killed for dowry
A housewife was beaten to death allegedly by her husband and in-laws for dowry in Purbo Rasti village in Sadar upazila on Monday night.
The victim was identified as Hiron alias Liza, 22, daughter of Badsha Howlader of Balia village in the upazila.
Police quoting family members said Hiron was married off to Palash Howlader, 30, son of Karim Howlader, six years back. Since the marriage, Palash and his family members used to torture her for dowry.
On the fateful night, an altercation ensued over the issue. Angered by her refusal to bring money from her father, they beat up her mercilessly, leaving her dead on the spot.
