Two Hizb-ut Tawhid men arrested
Police arrested two activists of Islamist outfit Hizb-ut Tawhid at Pathanpara Moholla in the district town yesterday morning.
They also seized books and leaflets on jihad (Islamic uprising) from their possession, said Golam Mortuza, officer in-charge of Sadar police station.
The arrestees are Zahidul Islam, 29, son of Abdul Kuddus of Goalgram village and Abdul Gaffar, 22, son of Haibatullah of Sindurkouta village under Gangni upazila in Meherpur district.
Being informed by locals, the law enforcers arrested the duo from the area at about 10:30am while they were distributing books and leaflets on jihad.
Later, the arrestees were produced before a court that sent them to jail, the OC added.
