Internal feud in Pabna BNP further deepened as Siddikur Rahman Siddik, join secretary of the district unit, joined the rival faction yesterday. As part of the party's countrywide demonstration, both factions yesterday held rallies and processions in the town separately. The district unit led by General Secretary Habibur Rahman Tota brought out a procession from the party office at around 11:00am demanding 'return' of their missing leader Illias Ali and withdrawal of 'false' cases against the central leaders. They later held a rally at Indara More (intersection) with district unit Vice President Abdullah Al Mahamud in the chair. Habibur Rahman Tota, Abdus Samad Khan Montu, Alhaj Toufik Habib and advocate Masud Khandaker spoke. The rival faction took out a procession from Pabna Town Hall premise and paraded the main streets. They later came to the party office and held a meeting there. Talking to this correspondent, Pabna municipality Mayor Kamrul Hassan Mintu said they held the meeting at the district office as it belongs to all BNP men in the district. District unit Secretary Tota said Mintu was expelled from the party. So, he has no right to hold any meeting at the district BNP office. Contacted, Siddikur Rahman Siddik, also the general Secretary BNP Pabna municipality unit, said he joined the rival group for the sake of the party. The rival faction formed a committee last month with Sirajul Islam Saradar and Kamrul Hassan Mintu as president and secretary.
