Boy abducted for ransom from Gazipur rescued
Two arrested at Khulna village
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Monday rescued a 5-year-old boy from a village in Paikgachha upazila seven days after his abduction for ransom from Gazipur district.
The elite force also arrested the wife of the alleged abductor and his cousin.
Victim Zahid Hasan is son of Alauddin of Rambhadrapur village of Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh and a resident of Boardbazar in Gazipur.
Rab-6 sources said Jahangir Sardar of Naldanga village in Dakope upazila of Khulna kidnapped Zahid from Boardbazar on May 1.
Jahangir took the boy to the house of his grandfather Sultan Joardar at Garaikhali village and demanded Tk 2 lakh as ransom and Alauddin agreed to pay the amount.
After informing Rab, on Monday Alauddin along with the money went to Paikgachha court area, as directed by the abductor over mobile phone.
Meantime, Rab members in plain clothes took position near the spot.
Jahangir sent his cousin Azizul Joardar, son of Sultan Joardar, there to collect the money.
As Alauddin handed over the bag containing the amount to Azizul, Rab arrested him on the spot.
Following Azizul's confessional statement Rab rescued Zahid from Sultan's house and also arrested Jahangir`s wife Khadiza Begum.
However, Jahangir managed to flee the scene minutes before arrival of the law enforcers.
