Keraniganj boy killed after abduction

A minor boy was “strangled to death” allegedly by a youth in Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka today, hours after he was kidnapped for ransom.

The body of Sohag, 11, was recovered from the house of the alleged abductor Yeasin Mohammad Shahin, 25, at Mirerbagh in South Keraniganj around 5:00pm, Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of South Keraniganj Police Station, told The Daily Star.

Shahin kidnapped Sohag when the boy went his (Shahin) house around 11:00am today and demanded Tk three lakh to the victim’s father over mobile phone, said the OC.

Later, the law enforcers recovered the body of Sohag from the bedroom of Shaheen after tracking his (Shaheen) mobile number and arrested him, the police official added.
