Lightning kills farmer

A man was killed in lightning strike in Pirganj upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon.

The victim, Promoth Nath, 30, a farmer, was son of Supendra Nath of Sindagar village in the upazila.

Officer in Charge (OC) of Pirganj Police Station Prodip Kumar Roy told this correspondent over phone that a thunderbolt hit Promoth while he was going to bring their cattle back from a field nearby his house amid rain around 1:30pm.

Hearing screams, villagers rescued him and took him to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex, where the doctors declared him dead.
