Hanging body found in Jamalpur

Police recovered the body of an elderly man hanging in a bamboo cluster in Baksiganj upazila of the district yesterday morning.

The deceased, Golam Mostafa, 60, son of late Hasmat Ali, was a resident of Chanderban Tinanipara area in the upazila.

Neighbours spotted Mostafa's body hanging in a bamboo cluster near his house yesterday morning informed the police.

On information, police went to the spot, recovered Mostafa's body from the cluster and sent it to Jamalpur General Hospital for autopsy, Officer in Charge (OC) of Baksiganj Police Station Shafiqul Islam said.

They were investigating the matter and after the autopsy, it will be clear whether the elderly man took his own life or he was murdered, the OC said, adding that an unnatural death (UD) case was filed in this regard.
