Fifth-grader raped, two arrested

Police on Sunday night arrested two people, including woman, in connection with a case for raping a primary schoolgirl in Barguna's Amtali upazila the same evening.

The arrestees -- Rubel Khalifa, 28, and his accomplice Rashida Begum, 45, -- were produced before the Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon that sent them to jail, Officer in Charge (OC) of Amtali Police Station Shah Alam Hawladar said.

According to the case statement, Rashida Begum, a resident of Kawnia village in the upazila, lured the victim girl to the former's house around 4:00pm.

She later left the place, keeping Rubel, son of Seraj Uddin of neighbouring Baithakata village, with the minor girl.

Taking the opportunity Rubel raped the victim and left the house.

After returning home, the girl disclosed the matter to her grandfather, who filed a case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Amtali Police Station, accusing Rubel and Rashida.
