Easy-bike driver killed in Kishoreganj

Criminals stabbed a batter-run easy-bike driver to death in Kishoreganj Sadar upazila on Tuesday night and tried to snatch his vehicle.

The deceased, Paran Miah, 18, was son of Idris Ali of Latifpur village in the upazila.

Officer in Charge (OC) of Sadar Model Police Station Abu Bakar Siddique said they detained one of the alleged killers Sharif, 17, son of Salam Miah of Mogoltuli area in Chattogram.

Quoting locals, police said three youths, in guise of passengers, boarded on Paran's auto-rickshaw in Bottola area of Kishoreganj town.

Around 8:00pm, as they reached near Sogra area the trio attempted to loot the vehicle, but when Paran tried to resist them, one of the criminals stabbed him on the throat with a knife, leaving him critically.

Being informed by locals, a police team rushed to the spot immediately and took injured Paran to Kishoreganj General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries the same night, the OC said.                             

The body was later sent to the hospital morgue for autopy.

During primary interrogation, arrested Sharif confessed that they all are members of an organized muggers gang, the OC said, adding that they were conducting drives to arrest the other members of the gang.
