Easy-bike driver beaten dead

An auto-rickshaw driver was beaten to death allegedly by a group of fellow drivers over a trivial matter at Dashuria intersection in Ishwardi upazila of the district yesterday.

The victim, Mizanur Rahman, 30, was a resident of Muladuli Koroitola village.

Officer in Charge (OC) of Ishwardi Police Station Sheikh Nasir Uddin said Mizanur had an altercation with other fellow drivers over forcing a passengers boarding his vehicle at Dashuria area around 12:30pm.

At one stage, they beat Mizanur mercilessly, leaving him unconscious.

Local people rescued him and took him to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex, where he succumbed to his injuries around 2:00pm, the OC added.
