A few suggestions

SN Mamoon, On e-mail
We would like to draw the attention of the present government to the following suggestions for solving our burning problems.

Power crisis remains our number one problem. We need to generate 1500 megawatts on an emergency basis and another 1500 megawatts for future needs. The following measures may be considered to solve this problem.

Well- known companies or contractors with good track records may be called and awarded contracts for the 4 power generation plants. They will generate 1500 megawatts. They will be given a tight timeframe. Money may be raised from share market, borrowing from other countries, foreign investors etc. For the next 1500 megawatts proper methods may be employed for pre-qualifications and ultimate selections.

Dhaka is reeling under tremendous traffic jam. It is increasing day by day. Constructions of new roads, widening of existing roads etc. will not contribute much towards solving the traffic jam problem. Please consider how Bangkok was developed. They built sky train, flyovers with loops and most importantly Metro. A good percentage of commuting population has to be sent underground.

More and more people will be affected with cardio-vascular, respiratory, eye, gastro-intestinal, psychiatric diseases due to traffic jams. Many work hours are lost in traffic jams. Please look at Bangkok, Tehran, Calcutta and New Delhi etc. and see how much less stressful life has become in those cities.

Please call a meeting of the traders, importers, wholesale and retail business people, assure them of all out co-operation and 'safety', take them into confidence and request them to bring down the prices of essentials to a rational level. Please build up rapport with them.
