27th BCS: Do justice

Mullah MA Sayed, A successful candidate, Jessore
The 27th BCS is acceptable to all because of its novelty and reliability. It was held on the basis of a new procedure and modern syllabus.

In the 27th BCS, 900 marks were allocated for written exams including 200 in General English, 100 in Science & Technology and 100 in Mathematics & Analytical Ability and no marks were fixed for optional subjects like that of the previous BCS exams where marks could vary a lot and the real meritorious would be deprived. But only the meritorious have done better in the written exams in this BCS. Only 100 marks were distributed for viva voce in the 27th BCS exams whereas it was 200 in the past. Out of a total 1,000 marks, only 100 viva marks were not enough to influence the results.

We do believe that some irregularities and anomalies have occurred at the PSC. But in general the exams were held impartially.

We, therefore, would welcome and appreciate an inquiry into any specific allegations. But it won't be wise to cancel the 27th BCS exams. Please ensure justice to the successful candidates.
